The 84-year-old veteran BJP leader, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan was earlier elected five times to the Odisha Assembly from Chilika and Bhubaneswar constituencies. Now, he is all set to take over as the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
Amaravati: Veteran BJP leader, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan is all set to take oath as the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh on July 24 at 11:30am. According to reports, Andhra Pradesh chief justice, C Pravin Kumar, would administer the oath-taking ceremony which is scheduled to be held in Amaravati.
An official communique from the chief minister's office said that Biswa Bhusan would visit the Tirumala temple a day before the ceremony, and after darshan, would reach Vijayawada.
Also, the state government has decided to convert an old irrigation office in Vijayawada into “Raj Bhavan”.
Speaking to MyNation, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesperson Prem Kumar Jain said, "Since the BJP is the ruling party, a BJP leader is appointed as the Governor. This is the general system of politics. But, since he is an older person and has a lot of knowledge about politics, definitely, the party would look forward to appointing him as the Governor."
Speaking about the conversion of an old irrigation office in Vijayawada into Raj Bhavan, the TDP spokesperson said, "We definitely cannot help it because it is the ruling government's decision. We cannot stop it."
"As per the Governor's requirements, the state government would take care of it," he added, indirectly hinting that the TDP is nothing but a “mute spectator’ in Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, senior IAS officer, Mukesh Kumar Meena, has been appointed as the secretary to the new Governor by the state government. Currently, Meena serves as the Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department.
