Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday (August 12) lashed out at the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi after he claimed that he heard about a few instances where there was violence following the abolition of Article 370

New Delhi: A day after Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said that he would send an aircraft for him to visit the Kashmir valley and observe the ground situation, the Wayanad MP on Tuesday (August 13) accepted the governor's challenge and said that he would visit Jammu and Kashmir to know more about the violence.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul said, "Dear Governor Malik, A delegation of opposition leaders & I will take you up on your gracious invitation to visit J&K and Ladakh."

"We won't need an aircraft, but please ensure us the freedom to travel & meet the people, mainstream leaders and our soldiers stationed over there," the former Congress president added.

Dear Governor Malik,

A delegation of opposition leaders & I will take you up on your gracious invitation to visit J&K and Ladakh.

We won’t need an aircraft but please ensure us the freedom to travel & meet the people, mainstream leaders and our soldiers stationed over there. https://t.co/9VjQUmgu8u

Earlier, Malik had said, "I have invited Rahul Gandhi to come here. I will send you a plane to observe (the situation) and then speak up. You are a responsible person, and you should not speak like this."

This comment by the governor came after Rahul said that he had received information on instances of violence on people in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370.

Why only , Governor Sahib? On behalf of i had asked in Lok Sabha for an all-party delegation to be invited to J&K to see the situation for ourselves! Do arrange such a trip instead of grandstanding: https://t.co/U6BWrLmTvh

Apart from Rahul, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor also took to Twitter and urged Malik to invite an all-party delegation to the Valley to review the ground situation in the state than only inviting the former Congress president.
