Hyderabad: Telugu actress Madhavi Latha, who is all set to contest on a BJP ticket in Andhra Pradesh, has stated that Power Star Pawan Kalyan and the members of the Jana Sena Party want Narendra Modi to once again be the Prime Minister.

Latha spoke to MyNation and said, “People want Pawan Kalyan in the state but in the country, they want Narendra Modi.”

Latha, who is a huge fan of Kalyan, left everyone puzzled about whether she would take on the Jana Sena Party chief.

On being questioned about Kalyan’s criticism of PM Modi, Latha said, “He never criticised Modiji. In fact most of the Jana Sena Party people want Modiji to become the Prime Minister again. So there is no point in criticising Pawan Kalyan.”

Earlier, Kalyan had said, "We would like to see Behenji Mayawati ji as the Prime Minister of our country. This is our wish and our ardent desire."

When MyNation questioned Latha on the occasions that Kalyan did speak against the BJP, Latha answered, “Maybe his opinions, but I don't want to say anything against him because I like him.”

Latha officially joined the BJP in the first week of May 2018 and was welcomed by Union minister Nitin Gadkari who was in Hyderabad at the time.

In response to Kalyan’s statements on Mayawati, Latha further went on to say that all Jana Sena Party members are not fans of Mayawati.

MyNation also spoke to Krishna Sagar Rao, BJP’s spokesperson who said that Latha is relatively new in the party.

“Her (Madhavi Latha) opinions are not a reflection of the party at all. Pawan Kalyan has spoken against the BJP and Prime Minister Modi on several occasions. He is not BJP’s friend at all,” iterated Rao.

Latha took to Twitter to announce that she would be contesting in the Assembly elections on a BJP ticket from Guntur West.

She tweeted, "Contesting as MLA from Guntur West #please do support me # Thank you Sooo much BJP Andra Pradesh And special big Thanks to Valluru Jaya Prakash Narayana Bjp Thank you for the support of @khanna Laxmi Narayana (sic)"

Hailing from Prakasam district, the actress filed her nomination on Wednesday in Guntur where she has been camping and meeting the people for the last few months.

The actor was subject to trolls when the BJP announced Latha’s candidature. The actor tweeted that she doesn't get bogged down by trolls and other TDP candidates.

Latha was also in the news after the Hyderabad police detained her for protesting Sri Reddy’s abuses against Kalyan.

Jana Sena Party was established in 2014 but this will be the first time that the party is jumping into the political battlefield.
