Vijay Sethupathi asks for mercy for 7 accused in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case

Kollywood hero Vijay Sethupathi requests the Governor for mercy in support of the seven accused in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case

Chennai: Nalini Murugan, Perarivalan, Robert Pious, Jayakumar, Ravichandran and Santhan are the seven main accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. In support of their release, Vijay Sethupathi, actor, producer and playback singer, has requested a the Governor in Tamil Nadu.

 In his request, Sethupathi said, "It’s not just a Tamil issue. It's a request for consideration of human rights. Please have mercy dear Governor. Kindly act now sir.”

Support for mercy on social media with the hashtag #28YearsEnoughGovernor has been doing the rounds.

Perarivalan was sentenced at the age of 20 and has spent most of youth in jail. The Tamil Nadu government has sent its recommendation to the Governor as per the direction of the Supreme Court. However, the families of the victims in the assassination case have been crying foul.
