The motive of the three-day summit was to help the entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu explore possibilities of conducting business abroad.
Madurai: The Rise, a three-day global summit of Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals, began on Friday with a call to strengthen the entrepreneurship spirit of the Tamils.
Chairman of the summit and chief secretary of Haryana MG Devasahayam said in the conference that the Tamil youth cannot be no job seekers anymore and there was a need for a revival. He also noted that the entrepreneurship is the only solution to scale up the economy. He added that honesty, dignity and integrity in the trade and business which are features and qualities possessed by Tamil ancestors would facilitate democratisation and decentralisation.
The event saw a participation of over 410 people, including 40 international delegates from the USA, UAE Singapore etc.
The motive of the summit was to help entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu explore the possibilities of business opportunities abroad. It was also stated in the meeting that the Tamils have a good background. The conference aimed at making the Tamils job creators rather than job seekers.
Meanwhile, former additional chief secretary of West Bengal, G Balachandran recalled how the Tamil language became famous through trade and commerce.
CK Ashok Kumar, the founder of the first world community, said the resurgent agriculture and medium and small enterprises would herald a new world order. He also said that the Tamil ancestors were at the peak of civilisation in almost every field, but today were reduced to the status of being job seekers.
Hand-holding by global Tamil entrepreneurs would strengthen entrepreneurship in the state and mooted floating of international Tamil brands.
The summit also announced the formation of a task to force to work on the rebuilding activities in the Cyclone Gaja- affected delta districts. The focus of the plan will be removal and recycling of fallen trees, income generation for farming and fishing communities, enabling cooperation between funding agencies and between non-governmental organisations.
