Pulwama: Jammu and Kashmir officials suspect that two-three terrorists have been trapped in a cluster of houses following an encounter with the security forces in Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. One militant hailing from Pakistan has been killed in the stand off.

"The joint team of security forces cordoned off the area following specific information about the presence of two-three terrorists," a senior police official said.

Officials told My Nation that a joint team of Indian Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a massive cordon-and-search operation at Dar Ganaie Gund, Aripal village early this morning.

"As the joint team was conducting door-to-door searches, terrorists fired upon them, triggering off an encounter in the area. The terrorists are believed to be two to three in number," officials said.

Internet services were snapped in the district on Saturday after the Hizbul Mujahideen released threat posters to Jammu and Kashmir Police SPOs and jawans of other security forces.
