Telangana: A petition has been moved through lunch motion by former minister Marri Shasidhar Reddy, who does not want elections to be conducted till the process of delimitation reaches its fag end.
The Hyderabad High Court has recently issued a notice to the Central government, Election Commission of India, and the State governments of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana to keep Telangana assembly elections on hold till the completion of delimitation of constituencies related to 7 mandals in Khammam district, which were shifted to the State of Andhra Pradesh during bifurcation a few years ago.
This decision came as a response to the petition moved through lunch motion by former Telangana minister Marri Shasidhar Reddy, who did not want elections to be held till the process of delimitation reaches its fag end. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Justice V Ramasubramanian directed the concerned factions. It is believed that seven mandals with 2.11 lakh voters include two parliamentary seats and three assembly seats
The court has adjourned the case till September 25 and has asked all the respondents to respond on the issue.
