Chennai: A 57-year-old special sub inspector of police was arrested for exposing himself to a 10-year-old school girl in Tamil Nadu’s Villivakkam.

K Vasu, who was attached to the Madhavaram Milk Colony police station in Chennai, was caught red-handed while flashing a school girl.

He has been arrested under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). According to reports, the police officer, who was to retire in four months, has been suspended.

This is not the first time that the police officer has been caught for his lewd behaviour. Prior to this, Vasu was spotted often flashing at students near the government school in Villivakkam. According to reports he would make indecent and lewd gestures at the students passing by, who would run away in fear.

On December 1, he flashed a 10-year-old. The girl had prior to this complained about him to her parents twice, the police told The Times of India. Unfortunately, her complaints were not given much attention, the police added.

When the incident took place on Saturday, a bunch of youngsters who were nearby spotted Vasu in the act. He tried to escape, however, was caught by them at the SIDCO Nagar in Villivakkam. They started to hit him. The residents of SIDCO Nagar, not knowing what the commotion was about, called the police control room. They were then taken to the police station. When the police got to know the issue they transferred the case to All Women’s Police Station.

The women’s police took up the case and pressed charges on him under POCSO. He was then arrested, put under judicial custody and suspended from his position.
