Kashmir: In the recent Shopian encounter that resulted in the killing of six terrorists on Sunday, Indian Army lost one of its bravehearts, identified as Naseer Ahmed.

Ahmed hailed from the Kulgam district of Kashmir and was a soldier of Territorial Army's 162nd BN.

On the other hand, the security forces managed to kill terrorists from Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba, including Abu Hanzala, the poster boy of terror outfits who dared the Indian Army by holding a meeting at Lal Chowk in Srinagar a few days ago, and terror commander Abbas, who was involved in the killing of lieutenant Umar Fayaz.

This was the second major anti-terror operation within 48 hours by the security forces in Kashmir. On Friday, the security forces had gunned down six other terrorists in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district.

Speaking to MyNation senior police official said, "The last two operations in South Kashmir were major operations and they have completely shattered the backbone of terror outfits operating in the Valley. The flow of information from the locals is increasing day by day as terrorists are targeting the civilians by branding them as informers".

The official also said the fact that credible information is coming from locals means that the Kashmiris are fed up being targeted by terror outfits.

“They know that the security forces are trying to bring peace there and they are helping us in that,” he added.
