Pathanamthitta: Kerala high court has queried the observation committee’s stand on the arrangements for women’s entry in Sabarimala. The bench including the chief justice asked the committee to inform about its observation.
This comes in the wake of the petition filed by Kannur native Reshma. She complained that she was not able to visit Sabarimala temple after waiting for days observing the 41-day penance.

Shortly after Reshma Nishanth revealed her plan to enter the Sabarimala temple, a mob including Hindu outfits gathered near her house, raised slogans against her and threatened not to allow her to enter the temple. Many natives have surrounded her house to stop Reshma.
At Reshma's home, her family is supporting her completely. In October, her husband, Nishanth, accompanied her to the local temple to guard her. He remained outside until she finished her prayers. Reshma also said that her five-year-old daughter is not stifled to any religion or beliefs.
While considering the petition the other day, the court asked the Devaswom Board to apprise it of the arrangements made for women between the age of 10 and 50 visiting Sabarimala.
Following this, Devaswom Board secretary S Jayasree gave an explanatory note to the court. The observation committee will have to clarify its stand on the arrangements mentioned in Sabarimala for women’s entry.
Section 144 imposed between Elavunkal and Sannidhanam has been extended till December 8. The decision has been taken based on the report by the Special Officer and Additional Magistrate in charge. Devotees and their vehicles have been excluded from Section 144.
