Punjab: Men throw acid at college student, cause severe burn injuries

Synopsis

A case has been registered against the unidentified accused under section 326 A of the Indian Penal Code for wilfully causing grievous injuries by acid

Chandigarh: The Punjab Police have launched a manhunt for two unidentified masked men who threw acid on a woman at Thoba village.

The shocking incident happened on Friday when the 23-year-old was returning from college. The two motorcycle-borne men chased the victim, a student of Bed, after she got down from the bus and threw acid at her. 

The woman suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to a village hospital by some passersby. Later, she was referred to Amritsar Government Guru Nanak Hospital.

The accused fled from the spot after the incident, police said.
