Solapur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress on Wednesday over the Rafale allegations, and said that alleged AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel ‘had a role in the fighter planes deal’.

The Prime Minister was addressing a rally in Maharashtra’s Solapur when he said that it is important to find out the relation between the Congress and Michel mama.

"Michel mama was lobbying for some other company. Congress leaders who are making noise now should explain to everyone - what is their relationship with Michel mama? Shouldn't they be given an answer? Shouldn't the chowkidar ask them about it?” Modi said.

“As per media, the middleman of helicopter deal who has been brought to India from a foreign country was not only involved in the helicopter deal but also in France fighter jet deal of previous government," the Prime Minister added.

Modi also accused the Congress of lying and misleading the nation on the Rafale deal.

PM Modi on his visit to Solapur will dedicate the four-lane section of Solapur-Tuljapur-Osmanabad of National Highway-211 (New NH-52) to the nation. The highway will help improve the connectivity of Solapur, with the important Marathwada region of Maharashtra.

He will also lay the foundation stone of 30,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which will primarily benefit poor homeless people.

This is Prime Minister Modi's second visit to the city. During his earlier visit to the city on August 16, 2014, Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation stone for four-laning of Solapur-Maharashtra / Karnataka border section of NH 9 and dedicated 765 kV Solapur-Raichur power transmission line to the nation.
