PM Narendra Modi in Shahjahanpur: Rahul Gandhi, unable to justify no-confidence motion, attempted forced hug

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a farmers' rally in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi pretended reaching out to him during the debate in Parliament on the no-confidence motion on 20 July.

"They do not trust the government you formed at the Centre," the Prime Minister said, addressing the rally.

"Yesterday in Parliament, I kept asking them why they had brought in the no-confidence motion," Modi said, adding, "ab jab kaaran nahin bataa paaye to gale pad gaye! (When he couldn't explain, he forced a hug on me)," in a clear reference to yesterday's act by Rahul Gandhi after which the Congress president winked at a party colleague.

After winning the no-confidence motion in Parliament on Friday, the Prime Minister reached Shajahanpur on Saturday to address a farmers' rally. He is expected to make some announcements for farmer’s benefit to assure them of his government’s support. 

The 'Kisan Kalyan Rally' will be held in Roza area of Shahjahanpur in central Uttar Pradesh which is the biggest grain and sugarcane market.

BJP workers and leaders of eight districts and farmers are attended the rally. A large number of farmers and BJP workers from Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Sitapur, Bareilly and Badaun converged at the venue.

The Prime Minister also met with Nida Khan, a victim of triple talaq (divorce). She has been fighting a case against her parents in-law. Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s sister Farhat has been invited to the political event who is also a victim of Triple Talaq.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the rally, too.
