Pawan Kalyan announces two more candidates to counter TDP in Andhra Pradesh Assembly election

Amaravati: Actor-politician and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Sunday announced that two more candidates of his Jana Sena party will contest in the ensuing elections in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly election.

While addressing a public gathering, Jana Sena chief announced candidature for the upcoming elections. Thota Chandrashekhar will contest from Guntur and former Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar will contest from Tenali constituency.

Manohar, son of former Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskar Rao, quit the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to join the Jana Sena in October last year.

Pawan earlier announced that Pithani Balakrishna would contest from Mummidivaram constituency in East Godavari district.

The famous actor exuded confidence that Jana Sena, with the support of weaker and backward sections of the society, will hoist its flag in Amaravati. Stating that his participation in politics is not for money or position, Pawan promised to empower all sections politically.

Pawan, who is the younger brother of superstar-turned-politician K Chiranjeevi, said he entered politics to root out corruption from society. Jana Sena leader already announced that his party will contest all 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in alliance with the Left parties.

He took a potshot at YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, saying Reddy wants to be chief minister for 30 years. "Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is also looking to come back to power. After that, he wants to hand over power to his son," he said, alleging that both parties are not aware of the ground realities.

Pawan said he wanted to enter politics in 2003. "I have not come into politics for the sake of power. If I wanted that, I would have become MP or MLA in 2009," he added.
