Security forces have shot dead a terrorist in an ongoing encounter in a village in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
“Acting on a specific input about the presence of two or three terrorists, the Army, Special Operations Group of Jammu & Kashmir Police and the CRPF cordoned off Sadal village of Handwara this afternoon and started search operation,” police sources told MyNation.
“As the searches were in progress, the terrorists hiding in the area opened random fire on the search team. In the retaliatory fire, one terrorist was killed. The exchange of gunfire is going on,” he said.
The encounter is still going on. Additional troops have been rushed to the area and the entire is has been cordoned off.
