Odisha shivers with intense cold waves, sees snowfall

Around 11 places in the state witnessed temperatures dropping below 10 degrees Celsius, with Daringbadi recording 6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha remains frozen in the clutches of a bone-chilling cold wave as the minimum temperature on Tuesday plummeted down to 5 degrees Celsius in Phulbani, the district headquarters of Kandhamal.

Around 11 places in the state witnessed temperatures dropping below 10 degrees Celsius, with Daringbadi recording 6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Keonjhar, Koraput, Mayurbhanj and other parts of Western Odisha have also faced severe spells of cold waves.

The intense drop in temperature led to snowfall in Koida area of Sundergarh district.

The mercury dropped to 7.2 degree Celsius in Keonjhar, 8.6 degree in Angul, 9.0 degree in Sonepur and 9.5 degree Celsius in Titlagarh respectively.

The state capital, Bhubaneswar and adjoining Cuttack remained comparatively warmer, recording 11.4 and 11.2 degree Celsius respectively; however, the cold wave conditions have also affected normal life in the twin cities.
