Senior leader of the National Conference (NC) and MLA from Mendhar, Javed Rana, has once again triggered a controversy. While addressing a gathering at Mendhar, Rana said, "I want to tell PM Modi that if anyone dares to touch (read 'scrap') Article 370 or 35A, there will be no tricolor in Jammu and Kashmir."

The statement of the NC MLA has come days before the Supreme Court hearing in a case of Article 35A, scheduled for August 6.

While speaking to MyNation, Rana said, "People of Jammu and Kashmir can go to any extent to safeguard Article 370 and 35A".

"

Critical of the Modi government, Rana said," I had apprehensions of Modi government using the judiciary. I even said in the (Jammu and Kashmir) Assembly that Delhi would bring use the judiciary to uimpose its decisions such as scrapping of triple talaq, Article 370 and 35A."

The NC MLA blamed the central government of 'saffronising' all the institutions with such decisions.

Rana has been in the news headlines for his controversial statements. On May 4, Rana blamed "government agencies" for the stone-pelting incident. Rana then said that the stone pelters were being paid by the Modi government. "Stone pelters are the creation of government agencies and RSS," said Javed Rana.

On March 19, Rana dared Prime Minister Modi: “People living on the international border and LoC are getting crushed by ceasefire violations. If Modi has courage, he should go ahead and unfurl the tricolour in Lahore, or else leave Kashmir and forget this issue.”
