New Delhi: Top sources within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suggests that the political scenario of Goa is soon going to be changed. Manohar Parrikar, whose charisma brought the BJP to power in spite of being behind Congress after the Assembly election results, is likely to resign as Goa’s chief minister.
Sources within BJP suggests Parrikar’s health conditions deteriorated in the past few weeks. He, in fact, had a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone, this week. It was PM Modi who urged him to get admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi and arranged for him to be airlifted.
But before that, a BJP source told MyNation, Parrikar spoke to Amit Shah and requested him for ‘an arrangement’ where he is absolved of the responsibilities of the chief minister.
BJP likely to ask its general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal and joint general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh to go to Goa as observers and ‘judge the situation’ by talking to allies who are the backbone of the government of Goa. Sources also say they will be asked to speak to all allies individually before heading back to Delhi and submitting their report to Shah. The final call will be taken by Shah after consultation with PM Modi, about the next chief minister of Goa.
Meanwhile, Parrikar is being examined by a team of doctors at AIIMS. He is undergoing treatment for a pancreatic ailment. He had returned from the US in the first week of September, days after which he was admitted to a hospital in Goa’s Candolim.
