After a post-mortem report, it was found that the packets contained medical waste and not ‘decomposed remains of 14 babies and foetuses’ as alleged

Bengal: A shocking case had emerged from Kolkata’s Haridevpur when as many as 14 decomposed bodies of newborns were recovered on Sunday from an unused land in Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road.

The skeletons of 14 babies wrapped in plastic were discovered when the owner of the land was cleaning the premises. Suspecting an illegal abortion ring, the police commissioner himself rushed to the spot.

The police suspected the packets contained remains of foetuses and newborns.
