Kerala flood relief: 60 trucks were sent to the State from Art of Living centres across India, carrying 500 tons of everyday essentials costing more than Rs 9.35 crore.
While the death toll scaled up in Kerala, hundreds of volunteers from the Art of Living are seen working round the clock in the flood-hit zones. Those at the meditation/yoga centre have sent 60 truckloads of relief material, carrying 500 tons of clothes, water, sanitary napkins, food items and toiletries provided by Sri Sri Tattva. These items were collected from the Art of Living International Centre in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Kolkata and other places.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the Art of Living said, “In these challenging times, let us all be brave and keep our strength and faith intact. Hold on to faith. Everything is going to be back to normal and everyone will overcome the fury of these floods. Lots of volunteers are doing plenty of service in the State. Let us all get together and serve more people.”
Kerala is now facing nature’s wrath with death toll increasing. Hundreds of volunteers have stepped in (around 50,000 people in all) to help at 14 flood-affected districts in Kerala. Volunteers have been working to shift people from affected areas to safety and providing them with food, water, clothes and other basic necessities and organising medical camps. More trucks with relief material for Kerala are scheduled throughout this week. The Art of Living has also set up collection centres across the city.
