On Sunday, Indian Swimmer Sajan Prakash finished in the fifth place in the 200m butterfly men at the ongoing 18th Asian Games. Prakash made history as he became the first Indian swimmer to make it to the final of 200m butterfly event since Khazan Singh won a silver medal in 1986.
However, this 24-year-old swimmer is unable to share the good news with his family stuck in Kerala floods. His grandparents, uncle and three others are reportedly missing since Thursday. His family stays in Idukki, which was severely affected by incessant rain and flood.
Sajan Prakash qualified for the final in record time of 1:58.12 seconds, and is the first Indian swimmer to qualify since 1986. While he missed bagging the medal, Prakash said that he spent sleepless nights before qualifying for the finals in the event.
