Kerala: 36-year-old woman booked for raping nine-year-old boy

Malappuram: A 36-year-old woman was booked for allegedly raping a nine-year-old boy in Thenjipalam, Malappuram, in Kerala. Thenjipalam Police have registered a case against the woman after the minor's parents lodged a complaint against her. 

The victim's aunty reportedly raped the boy on multiple occasions over a span of a year and a half. 

The child was subjected to counselling by his parents after they noticed certain physical uneasiness in him. During the counselling, the child revealed the woman physically harassed him. Later, the counsellor alerted child line authorities and the minor's parents, who recorded the statement of the boy and forwarded a complaint to the local police.

A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case was also registered against the woman. The police have invoked Section 5 and Section 6  (under the POCSO Act) against the accused.  

Similarly, on February 4, a 25-year-old woman was arrested at Kalady, Ernakulam district, for allegedly raping a nine-year-old boy. Malayatoor Police arrested the Kadappara native after the minor's mother lodged a complaint against her.

This child too was subjected to counselling by his parents after they noticed certain changed in the boy's behaviour. During the counselling, the child revealed that his relative physically harassed him.

Meanwhile, the accused woman’s husband denied the allegations and said the boy's mother had certain financial issues and thus raised a "false complaint".

Meanwhile,  veteran Congress leader OM George surrendered before Manandavady's deputy superintendent of police Kuberan Namboothiri. He was accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old Adivasi girl several times for over two years. It is also reported that the girl and her parents worked as servants at George’s house.

A case under sections of the POCSO Act was registered against district Congress committee (DCC) member OM George. And he is currently the vice-chairman of Sulthan Bathery Cooperative Bank.

The incident of rape came to light when the (victim) tried to commit suicide. Child line activists ensured that the victim was protected and informed the police immediately.
