Kashmir: Pakistan-sponsored terrorists desperate to derail restoration of grass-roots democracy in Valley

Synopsis

A 45-second-long video accessed by MyNation shows how a Pakistan-sponsored terrorist is threatening locals Kashmiris to refrain themselves from taking part in elections

Srinagar: With the central government is keen to restore grass-roots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir by holding panchayat and municipal elections, Pakistan's desperation to create hurdles in elections is clear with increasing terror incidents in the Valley.

A 45-second-long video accessed by MyNation shows how a Pakistan-sponsored terrorist, who is reportedly based in Sopore, is threatening locals Kashmiris to refrain themselves from taking part in elections.

In the video, the terrorist identified as Amir Sultan can be seen threatening people from Baramulla, Handwara, Kupwara, and Sopore, who have filed their nomination papers to contest elections - to withdraw their names or be ready to face the wrath of Pakistan-backed terrorism.

On September 21, Kashmir woke with the abduction of three policemen who were later killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Shopian district of south Kashmir. However, this was not a lone incident backed by Pakistan proxies to derail attempts to restore grass-roots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. In August, Hizbul abducted 11 kindreds of policemen after the police detained father of terror commander Riaz Naikoo. Terrorists are also targeting local Kashmiris and later are branding them as informers to prove themselves as the 'saviours of Kashmir'.

Apart from these incidents, Pakistan proxies have gutted around 10 Panchayat ghars on fire to threaten locals. In one incident, these elements have also set paddy crops of an independent candidate on fire.
