Shabir Ahmad Bhat, a Kashmir-based BJP activist was shot dead on Wednesday by a terrorist. The police have registered an FIR and a manhunt has been launched
Pulwama: Shabir Ahmad Bhat, a Kashmir-based Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) activist, who was abducted by a terrorist on Tuesday evening, was shot dead on Wednesday. The police recovered his bullet-ridden body from South Kashmir's Pulwama district early on Wednesday morning, around 14 km away from his home.
This is the first killing in the Valley that was driven by a political motive in a long time. This is also seen as a nefarious design of terrorists ahead of the elections to the upcoming urban and local bodies in a bid to destabilise Kashmir once again.
A senior police officer told MyNation that the body of the man was recovered in Litter village of Pulwama district and has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat.
The BJP activist hailing from Pathan village of South Kashmir's Pulwama district was abducted by the terrorists when he was on his way home. There were six to eight bullet shots on his body.
The police have registered an FIR and a manhunt has been launched to nab the terrorists.
Elsewhere, terror outfits threatened by the BJP's efforts to strike an alliance with non-PDP, non-Congress MLAs to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir have issued a threat to Sajjad Lone, Abdul Majid Paddar and Yasir Reshi. A video released by Lashkar-e-Toiba has a man threatening these MLAs of dire consequences.
According to the terrorists, the new government would be anti-Muslim. They have said that even the families of Lone, Paddar and Reshi will not be spared.
The terrorist in the video has been identified as Bhat Shahid.
MyNation had reported on August 11 that Lone and other MLAs had been in touch with the BJP leadership to form a new government in Jammu and Kashmir.
