Bengaluru police are working on a new plan which allows vehicles that have special stickers with holograms to enter Vidhana Soudha

After limiting the entry of media personnel into Vidhana Soudha, the seat of Karnataka’s secretariat and legislature, now the Bengaluru police are working on a new plan which allows vehicles that have special stickers with holograms.

Sources in Vidhana Soudha said that Sateesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and in-charge of Vidhana Soudha security has already made a proposal to be placed before Bengaluru city police commissioner T Suneel Kumar.

The latest move is aimed specifically at eliminating middlemen around the state secretariat.

Sources in Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sajjad Khan’s office, said that he has made a proposal to contain the movement of vehicles, the public, to meet their respective leaders and for paper works inside the secretariat building in Bengaluru.

The stickers with holograms and passes will be made available for entry. The details of the new proposal have been shared with Sateesh Kumar and will be sent to Suneel Kumar. Later, it is likely to be placed before the cabinet for approval.

Earlier, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had defended the move to restrict media into Vidhana Soudha.

“I’ve asked officials to be alert about those involved in brokering, who is misleading the public. To avoid unlawful activities, we have said there should be some restrictions on some people, including the media,” Kumaraswamy said last month.

Criticising this move, BJP spokesperson S Prakash said that the move is to avoid the government's failure getting exposed.

"Earlier they restricted media movement in the secretariat and now, bringing hologram policy will only put public at the inconvenience," he opined.
