Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court today dismissed Mohammed Nalapad Haris's plea to travel out of the country. On Friday, Nalapad had asked the court's permission to go to London to meet his brother for 15 days. Justice John Michael Cunha directed him to file a petition with the sessions court instead.

The central crime branch of Bengaluru police had filed the charge sheet against the young politician in May. The 8th additional magistrate heard the case. He was charged of attempt to murder, assault and other charges for his attack on Vidvat, the son of a businessman, on February 17. Nalapad had surrendered himself to the police two days after the brutal incident happened and since then he spent more than 100 days in jail.
According to the charge sheet, Vidvat, who had a broken leg, was sitting at the restaurant when his feet accidentally touched against Nalapad, who is said to have demanded an apology. When Vidvat disagreed, they began to fight, which turned ugly. Vidvat had to be hospitalised.
This incident happened a little before Karnataka assembly election and NA Haris was one of the four candidates, who had to wait till the release of the second list for his name to appear as one of the Congress candidates. He fought the Shanthinagar constituency in Bengaluru.
