Bengaluru: Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy is reported to be unwell and will have to undergo treatment abroad. This news was followed by rumours that he will resign soon. However, Kumaraswamy has clarified over the speculations about his health, calling the report ‘far from the truth’.

One of the regional TV channels started airing a special programme stating that Kumaraswamy is ill and he will resign soon.

Following this, JD(S members gathered in front of the TV channel’s office in Bengaluru and staged a protest on Thursday.

Reacting to this, Kumaraswamy tweeted, "I respect the freedom of expression of the media in our democracy. I am not ill as telecast in the media. The blessings of God, my parents and the good wishes of the people of the state is the protection shield for me. My priority is to work for the people (sic).”

Hence I appeal to the party workers not to be upset with such reports and to withdraw their protests against TV5 immediately.
