The ongoing Sabarimala protest that witnessed a sea of devotees coming in support to save the age-old tradition, took an intense turn after two women entered the Sabarimala temple. The protests also took a toll on Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation as 92 buses were stopped resulting in 10.16 revenue loss.
Bengaluru: The ongoing violent protests in Sabarimala by Ayyappa devotees against state administration for playing with 'Hindu' tradition and allowing women into Ayyappa temple impacted Karnataka as well. According to KSRTC officials, 92 buses from Bengaluru, Hassan, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Chikkamagaluru needed to be stopped. "In the morning a window pane of a bus was damaged near Kasaragod. Following this incident, KSRTC had to stop its services resulting in a huge loss," said an official.
However, after the situation calmed down, the services resumed. According to officials, the bus to Thiruvananthapuram from Bengaluru left at 5pm.
