Bengaluru: Actor-turned-politician Ambareesh is said to be quitting politics as well as filmdom, say sources from the actor's camp on a day when Karnataka is witnessing by-elections in 5 constituencies. There were speculations that Ambareesh will quit Congress and join JD(S). But the latest reports are that he will not only stay away from politics, but will also bid goodbye to Kannada movies.

Even during Assembly election in May, when Congress had offered him a B-Form to contest from Mandya, he had not received it nor submitted it. Later, he had not even taken part in campaigning  for the Congress candidate in Mandya.

Known as Mandyada Gandu (man of Mandya), Ambareesh was disappointed after he was asked to step down from the Cabinet post in June 2016. After this, he did not show much interest in political events or even elections.

Though official confirmation from Ambareesh about the same is awaited, sources close to him have said that he is calling it quits.

Reports also say that Ambareesh will also stop acting in movies. Ambi Ninge Vayassaytho (Ambi, you are old now) released  on September 27, 2018, which was his latest movie. It was the remake of Tamil movie Pa Paandi.
