After demonetisation, Pakistan-sponsored terror outfits have been struggling to arrange funds for carrying out terror-related activities in the state. The terrorists have now taken recourse to drug-peddling to deal with the funds crunch
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday recovered a huge cache of drugs, which was coming directly from Pakistan.
Sources told MyNation that the consignment was coming from Pakistan via Kupwara through the line of control. Jammu was being used a bridge to ship this drug consignment to Amritsar.
After demonetisation, Pakistan-sponsored terror outfits have been struggling to arrange funds for carrying out terror-related activities in the state. The terrorists have now taken recourse to drug-peddling to deal with the funds crunch.
"Terror related activities have gone down after demonetisation. To deal with the funds crunch to sponsor terrorism, terror outfits sponsored by Pakistan are now sending drugs consignment to India through line of control," a senior official told MyNation.
The Jammu Police recovered heroin worth Rs 250 crore and arrested two members of a gang on Monday. The accused were identified as Gurjeet Singh and Ravi Kumar, both residents of Jammu.
"A total of 50 kg of fine quality heroin valued at around Rs 250 crore has been recovered from the arrested accused," said an official.
Police hope that this breakthrough will aid in mounting a major crackdown on terrorism.
