On the day of late Tamil Nadu’s chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s 71st birth anniversary, several prominent personalities paid tribute to her, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to pay tributes, "Tributes to Jayalalithaa ji on her birth anniversary. Her contribution towards the development of Tamil Nadu will be remembered for generations. A fine administrator and compassionate leader, her welfare measures benefitted countless poor people."

President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Amit Shah also remembered the late actor-politician. Shah, too paid tribute to her via Twitter stating, “I offer my tributes to Jayalalithaa ji on her birth anniversary. Her passion and commitment to serve the poor and marginalized shaped millions of lives in Tamil Nadu. She will continue to be fondly remembered as Amma for generations."

Actors such as Kamal Haasan too, said that he had known late J Jayalalithaa from her acting days. “Today is a day where her party members must be happy for having had such a stalwart as their leader,” Haasan told media at Chennai Airport.
