Shazia, first woman terrorist to be arrested in Kashmir; blow to Hizbul Mujahideen

In a first, a woman terrorist was arrested in Srinagar on Saturday. Police sources confirmed that she was affiliated with terror outfit Hizbul Mujahedeen

Srinagar: In a major success, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday evening arrested a woman terrorist from Srinagar.

Confirming the arrest of the woman terrorist, sources in the police told MyNation that based on specific intelligence inputs, they have arrested her from Srinagar. "She was affiliated with Hizbul Mujahedeen and was on the radar of security agencies since September this year", the source added.

Sources also revealed that the arrested woman terrorist has been identified as Shazia and is married to a local Kashmiri man, identified as Salaam Kullu, a resident of Bazar Nahidkhai area. Hailing from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Shazia has been arrested by Rajbagh police.

It is for the first time that the Jammu and Kashmir Police has managed to arrest a terrorist in Kashmir who was a woman. She played a key role in the revival of terror outfit Hizbul Mujahedeen after the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani in 2016.

However, senior officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police are tight-lipped on this development. 

Speaking to MyNation, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbag Singh said, "Yes, an arrest has been made. More details will be shared by officials of Kashmir zone". Police officials involved in the arrest are maintaining that she has been detained for questioning and the terror angle is being investigated.
