High Court pulls up Bengaluru police commissioner in illegal flex case as BBMP officials face attack from goons

Synopsis

Sources in High Court said that Justice Dinesh Maheshwari had sought a report from Suneel Kumar on how many FIRs had been filed so far over illegal flex boards case.

Following the attack on Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara  Palike (BBMP) engineers in Ramamurthy Nagar police station limits on Thursday (2 August) for removing illegal flex boards based on Karnataka High Court’s direction, the court issued summons to Bengaluru city police commissioner T Suneel Kumar.

Sources in High Court said that Justice Dinesh Maheshwari had sought a report from Suneel Kumar on how many FIRs had been filed so far over illegal flex boards case.

 It is said that the court had taken objection against police for failing to give protection to officials on duty.

BBMP Assistant Revenue Officer Bhattachar and his team were assaulted by Rajendran, Simon, Kamalanath Surya, Santosh and Sarvana for removing illegal flex and posters of their leaders.

Following this direction today (3 August), Suneel Kumar has instructed city police officials to arrest the goons immediately. While Santosh and Sarvana are still at large other accused have been arrested.
