Jammu: Curfew was imposed in Jammu city after massive violence broke out in which dozens of people were injured and vehicles were vandalised.
The Army has been deployed to help in maintaining the law and order situation. According to the officials, curfew was imposed and flag marches were conducted as authorities feared a communal backlash.

On Thursday, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into a bus carrying CRPF personnel, killing at least 40 jawans in Pulwama. This was the worst terror attack on the security forces in Kashmir. According to reports, violence broke out during procession against the attack on CRPF soldiers.

The clash took place at Gujjar Nagar area where some vehicles were damaged due to pelting of stones. However, police swung into action and prevented a major clash. Raising anti-Pakistan, anti-terrorists slogans, protesters burnt tyres on many roads. The agitators, mostly youth, put up barricades on roads demanding revenge.

Protesters, particularly in the old city, refused to disperse even after loudspeakers announced that curfew was imposed.
The police lobbed tear gas and lathicharged to disperse the mob and quell the situation. Currently, the situation has been brought under control.
Meanwhile, the bandh was successfully observed in Jammu with BJP president Ravinder Raina and sitting MP Jugal Kishore, among others, sitting on dharna to protest against the CRPF attack in Pulwama.
Internet services were stopped in Jammu area to control the situation.
Jammu and Kashmir leaders Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah condemned the violence.
Distressed to hear about miscreants in Jammu trying to take advantage of the situation by inciting tension. Guv adm should have preempted this by securing minority dominated areas. Have spoken to IG Jammu to deploy additional security.
