Court denies bail to BJP's K Surendran for blocking 52-year-old woman in Sabarimala

The court denied bail to BJP leader K Surendran for blocking Chithira Aattatirunal’s entry to Sabarimala and for instigating protests outside the airport while blocking Trupti Desai. 

Pathanamthitta: On Friday, the district sessions court in Ranni rejected the bail plea of Kerala general secretary of BJP, K Surendran and Elantoor native Sooraj, who is the prime accused in the case of allegedly attacking and blocking 52-year-old Chithira Aattatirunal’s entry to Sabarimala. A native of Thrissur, she was accompanied by her grandchild and was trying to enter Sannidhanam.

The police have submitted records proving the interactions that took place between Surendran and Sooraj, pertaining to their role in blocking Aattatirunal’s entry to the temple.

Earlier this month, on his way to Sabarimala, Surendran was arrested. Six warrants have been issued against him, including old political cases in Kannur. The latest case against him is regarding his alleged involvement in blocking activist Trupti Desai at the Cochin International Airport.

Surendran was however, given bail for the case relating to picketing Neyyattinkara tahsildar during Namajapa protests. The BJP leader can now move his bail plea to the Kerala high court.
