New Delhi: The cycle of political violence in Bengal is seeing no end, with another person, who the BJP claims to be an active member of its party, found hanging from a tree in a village of the Birbhum district. The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Tapas Bagdi.
The body was found hanging from a tree in the Darka village of Labhpur area. This is a reminder of an alleged murder of a BJP worker in politically-sensitive Purulia district where the body of the activist was found hanging from a tree.

Speaking to MyNation, Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh alleged, “When Tapas went missing, we were concerned, knowing how our cadre have been killed in the past. Late in the night, we discovered his body hanging from a tree. He was a dedicated worker of the BJP. Tomorrow, we are sending a BJP team to meet his family”.
State BJP leader Locket Chatterjee will be a part of the fact-finding team. The district BJP is on a war mode with threats to launch a protest across Birbhum. But Aunbrata Mandal, TMC strongman and close aide of Mamata Banerjee, has dismissed the allegation, calling the death "a suicide".
Political murders through hanging are not new in Bengal. Earlier, Trilochan Mahato and Dulal Kumar, two BJP workers, were found dead in an identical fashion in Purulia. This July, a TMC worker Gurupada Mahato was found hanging from a tree in Bankura district of Bengal where the TMC alleged BJP’s hand behind it.

Birbhum district, since the panchayat polls in the state, has been tense with occasional clashes between the two parties. The confrontations occur when either side attempts to establish its territorial dominance.
So far, no police complaint has been registered. But the police say that Tapas left the village after tension heightened over the political clashes. He went missing from his home and was found hanging from a tree.
