Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar offers prayer at the Bari Patan Devi temple in Patna on the occasion of Durga Ashtami.
The Janata Dal (United) leader, clad in a white kurta, was seen doing aarti in front of the goddess.
Bari Patan Devi temple, which is one of the 51 shakti piths, is considered as one of the most sacred temples of Patna. It is believed that the left thigh of Sati’s corpse had fallen here after it was chopped off by Lord Vishnu to prevent her grief-stricken husband Shiva from destroying the world.
Nitish made headlines recently after he appointed Prashant Kishor as the vice president of the party.
This makes Kishor the second most powerful person in the party.
Party spokesperson KC Tyagi said Kishor's appointment will help to reach out to social segments out of its traditional support base.
