Bengaluru: After 10 years, the city police have finally arrested a key suspect in the Bengaluru serial blasts case. Abdul Saleem, who has been accused of planting a bomb in Madiwala, was arrested from Kerala by a team of the Central Crime Branch (CCB).

The police had been on his trail since 2008. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) too was on the lookout for Saleem, who is said to be a part of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

On July 25, 2008, a series of bomb blasts took place in Bengaluru. The police said that low-intensity crude bombs triggered by timers caused the explosions. Several people were injured in the seven blasts while one woman lost her life.

It was said that gelatin sticks were used in the bombs. The police indicated that all bombs had timer devices attached to them and that mobile phones were used to trigger the bombs.

There was another bomb found on July 26, 2008, near Forum Mall, Koramangala, which was defused by the Bomb Detection Squad.
