In the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack, facing the wrath of protesters, “Karachi Bakery” which bears the name of the namesake Pakistani city, had to partially cover its signboard.
Benaluru: After receiving threatening calls on February 22, one of the outlets of the popular bakery in Bengaluru covered ‘Karachi’ on its signboard.
According to the reports, it is since February 17 that the outlet had been receiving threatening calls over its name.
Employees of the outlet told that various groups have been threatening the bakery to either change its name or shut down the business.

— Rajaneesh (@vilakudy)According to the Bengaluru (East) Police Control Room, on February 22, the Indiranagar outlet of the bakery witnessed ruckus, following which the bakery’s signboard was partially covered to hide the word “Karachi”. An Indian flag was displayed at the outlet as well.
Khanchand Ramnani, an immigrant to Hyderabad from Pakistan, had started the bakery. Ramnani had immigrated to India with his family during the partition riots in 1947. Following this, he had established the Karachi Bakery near Mozamjahi market in Hyderabad.
