New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was attacked in front of his office in Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Anil Sharma, who hailed from Delhi's Naraina.

Sharma had chilli powder in his hand, which he tried to throw at Kejriwal. The Aam Aadmi Party leader’s glasses also broke in the scuffle.

The attacker was later detained by the Delhi Police.

However, this is not the first time that the chief minister has been attacked. In 2016, a woman threw ink at Kejriwal while he was addressing a gathering at Delhi’s Chhatrasal Stadium.

In 2014, Kejriwal was slapped by an aunt driver while campaigning in Sultanpuri, north-west Delhi.

In 2011, he was attacked with a slipper by a youth, while the AAP member was going to attend a programme in Lucknow.

However, the blame game started soon with Aam Admi Party (AAP) spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj alleging that the accused had an affiliation with BJP — something the BJP predicted even before the allegation came. Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Bagga called it 'theatrics' to deflect attention from 'misgovernance'.
