Ahead of Karnataka Budget, Siddaramaiah invites Congress MLAs for dinner meet

Synopsis

Karnataka state Budget will be held on February 8 and former chief minister Siddaramaiah will hold a dinner meeting with his party MLAs

Bengaluru: Ahead of the Karnataka Budget, former chief minister Siddaramaiah has called his party MLAs for a dinner meeting in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media in Raichur, Siddaramaiah said that all the MLAs are in contact and they have not gone anywhere.

In a letter, Siddaramaiah said that he has organised a dinner meeting in Cauvery residence on February 5 at 7 pm. It is reported, apart from the Congress MLAs, no other individuals are invited for this dinner meeting.

Siddaramaiah told the media, "to discuss more on the budget, I have called the ministers for dinner. Apart from them, nobody is invited."

Similarly, Karnataka deputy chief minister G Parameshwara will also hold a dinner meeting on February 6 for all the coalition MLAs and will have another session of budget discussion. The time and place is yet to be revealed.

Earlier in August 2018, Siddaramaiah hosted a dinner meeting for his party ministers while Siddaramaiah’s office called it a simple get together. But, it was primarily an exercise to collect feedback on the functioning of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government. The dinner meeting was hosted a day after district in-charge ministers’ list was released.

Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP president BS Yeddyurappa had invited about 20-25 BJP MLAs for a breakfast meeting on Tuesday at his residence in Bengaluru. According to sources, these are unprotected MLAs of those who can switch camps.
