New Delhi: Every October, artists all over the world take on the Inktober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month and designer Nida Mahmood chose the best way to do just that.
Known for her quirky take on traditional silhouetted, the designer, popularly known as 'Kitsch Queen' of Indian fashion fraternity, Nida has been sharing illustrations of her past and recent collections. "Creative people like us designers enjoy this freedom to create a garment based on an illustration. It just helps you visualise, is a great piece of art and just helps you draw out what you want to make," says the designer, who recently launched her festive season collection Indian Flower Bazaar. The collection made with handloom cotton and silk features gorgeous India inspired prints and hand embroidery.
While many of you may have seen or invested in designer wear, rarely do people actually get a chance to see the inception of their outfit - the illustration. "So, these are illustrations of garments that have already been made. But it is a form of art and I really enjoy this process," she says.
So, in this new take on the month of art, the designer has given her new twist on Inktober, by showcasing how your favourite designer pieces actually begin as pieces of art. Nida has recently forayed into menswear and also interior decorations, so we cannot wait for her to share her mood board for the same.
