Abhinav Kumar Received Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal from Hon'ble Chancellor Justice D Y Chandrachud

Abhinav Kumar a small village boy from Bihar’s Madhubani district was awarded vice-chancellor’s gold medal in the convocation ceremony of MNLU Mumbai. This award was conferred by the  Chancellor of the University Hon'ble Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Judge Supreme Court of India in the function held at Maharashtra Judicial Academy, Mumbai. 

This laurels has brought immense happiness and joy among his family members and friends who are very elated after hearing this news. Abhinav's father is a farmer and lives in the Sukhvasi village of Madhubani district. 

Abhinav did his LL.M. from MNLU with specialization in Legal Pedagogy and Research in 2015. After graduating from MNLU Mumbai, Abhinav worked with leading legal offices, trained under leading law firms and chambers of the Supreme Court advocates. He has worked with the Legislative department of Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, where he learnt the tutelage of policy and legislative drafting. At present, he is working as Law and Policy expert, assisting in the preparation of various policy documents and draft reports.

MNLU Mumbai is one of the prestigious law schools in the country and the students who obtain his degrees are placed at the esteemed legal institutions of the country. Justice Chandrachud is always in the for his judgements and opinions in the Courtroom. Hon’ble Justice Chandrachud presented the medal to Abhinav at the Convocation ceremony organized at the Maharashtra Judicial Academy, in the presence of dignitaries like Justice B.V. Nagarathna, Judge Supreme Court of India, and various other judges of the Bombay High Court, government officials and Vice-Chancellors of other National Law Universities in the country. 

Abhinav has been an active legal activist and committed to the cause of poor and marginalized communities since his law school days. He has been the part of legal aid committee and actively contributed in the promotion of free legal aid and assisted in pro-bono cases. He has also worked in the chamber of leading lawyers of the country. Abhinav is constantly looking for making his best efforts in the domain of law and public policy so that effective change can be created. According to Mr. Kumar after receiving the medal, said, “This extraordinary achievement is the output of years long struggle and the blessings of my entire family as well as well-wishers”

Presently, he is working in the area of legal academia and public policy. He is a popular legal policy expert and also writes regularly for leading news portals. Abhinav is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Law from prestigious faculty of law, University of Delhi. His area of specialization is Constitutional Law, Public Law and International humanitarian law. He wants to make his contribution in the field of law and public policy sphere for the Government of India.
