Abdullah Khan (21) of Mumbai, a BE (computer science) student will join Google’s site reliability team this September, breaks the stereotype of recruitment

New Delhi: Abdullah Khan (21), a Mumbai based BE (computer science) student was called for an interview by tech giant Google based on his profile over a website that conducts challenges based on coding and computer programing. Yes, you read it right, Abdullah is 21 years old. He may not have qualified for IITs, which are the premier institutions in the country and holds the records of such big package placements, but he has successfully impressed Google's London office.

A market where the average salary of a non-IITian engineer is 4 lakh pa, a student from Shree LR Tiwari Engineering College, Mira Road, Mumbai hits the headlines with  a huge salary package of Rs 1.2 Cr, that too in Google, which is a dream for any IT and computer engineer in India. After a series of online interviews, Khan was called for the final screening in London earlier this month.

His package includes:

- a base salary of Rs 54.5 lakh (£60,000) per annum.

-a 15% bonus

-Stock options worth Rs 58.9 lakh ($85,000) over four years

Khan, who is doing his final year BE (computer science), will join Google's site reliability engineering team in September.

Khan while talking to a newspaper said that he was not expecting such an offer when he participated in the competitions held on that site. He said "I used to participate as it was fun. I did not even know that firms check programmers' profiles on such sites. I showed the email to my friend who knew someone who had received such an email in the past. I am looking forward to joining their team. It will be an amazing learning experience for me," said Khan. The coding junkie did his schooling in Saudi Arabia and moved to Mumbai only after Class XII.”
