New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Bombay will hold condolence meet for its deceased alumnus Manohar Parrikar, who died on March 17 after a prolonged illness. “The meeting will be held on Monday evening at 5 pm at the P.C Saxena auditorium.” told by the spokesperson of IIT Bombay.
Goa chief minister, Manohar Parrikar, 63, who was also the defense minister between 2014 to 2017 died on Sunday evening at his private residence in Goa after battling pancreatic cancer for over a year.
Manohar Parrikar did his graduation in metallurgical engineering from IIT Bombay in 1978. Addressing its 55th convocation in 2014, he had told graduates to take jobs in social and development sectors. He asked “ Why can’t IIT graduates who have had best engineering education in the country, take up academics and run some of these colleges and transform their quality? “
The demise of its alumnus came as a shock to the premier institute. “He was the Institue's distinguished alumnus and keenly involved with many initiatives at IIT Bombay. He was also deeply involved with the launch of IIT Goa.“ said by the institute in its official statement
