Notably, he is making the headlines for donating a large sum of money for the release of 900 prisoners in the UAE. Remarkably, Firoz Merchant has facilitated the release of approximately 20,000 prisoners to date. 

Firoz Merchant generously donated 10 lakh dirhams, equivalent to Rs 2.25 crore. He also facilitated the air travel for these prisoners to fly back safely to their homes. 

Business ventures

In the year 1980, when Firoz Merchant visited Dubai on his honeymoon after tying the knot with Rozina, he explored the famous Gold Souk. The allure of the place attracted him, prompting him to venture into the gold business. His business decision proved successful, and this marked the beginning of his journey in the industry. 

Early life

Firoz Merchant was born in a humble family. He lived in a modest house with 11 family members. His father, being the only breadwinner of the family, struggled to earn a decent living. When Firoz was in second grade, he had to discontinue his schooling because the family lacked the funds to pay the tuition fees. However, with dedication and perseverance, he managed to receive a good education. 

A successful businessman

Firoz Merchant is recognized as one of the prominent figures in the gold business sector of Dubai. Notably, he is actively involved in charitable and philanthropic initiatives. His aim is to give a second chance to prisoners to lead positive lives. His objective for the year 2024 is to repatriate 3000 prisoners to their homes.
