Discover the story of Samaira Hullur and her path to the skies.
Born and raised in Vijayapura, Karnataka, Samaira Hullur grew up in a business-oriented household. Her father, Amin Hullur, is a businessman. But Samaira’s dreams took a different flight path. By the time she reached class 9, she had already made up her mind: a desk job wasn’t for her. She set her sights on the skies instead.
It was during a flight in class 10 that Samaira's dream truly took flight. Seated near the cockpit, she was captivated by the pilot’s uniform, calm demeanour, and professionalism. The pilot noticed her curiosity and patiently answered her questions—an experience that left a lasting impression. Motivated by that encounter, Samaira attended an orientation session with Captain Tapesh Kumar of Akasa Airlines. From that moment on, she began seriously exploring a career in aviation, officially stepping into the field right after completing class 11.
After class 12, Samaira trained at Vinod Yadav Aviation Academy (VYAA) in Delhi, then joined Carver Aviation Academy in Baramati, Maharashtra, for Commercial Pilot License (CPL) training. She completed 200 flight hours in 18 months and cleared 5 of 6 DGCA exams before turning 18, passing the 6th (Radio Transmission Technology) on her 18th birthday.
Samaira faced several challenges during aviation training. Initially, Samaira struggled with landings. Following her instructor's advice, she improved with practice. Her first solo flight felt weightless, she recalls.
Her family fully supported her dream. Samaira's father saved money, researched training centres, and encouraged her throughout. He says they dreamt together, and now those dreams are realized.
Samaira is ready to become a commercial airline pilot. She dreams of flying large aircraft and inspiring youth by demonstrating that with big dreams and hard work, no goal is too distant.
