Prerna Singh cracked NEET UG 2023 after overcoming the tragic loss of her father

At a young age, Prerna Singh faced challenges that could profoundly affect anyone. Her father passed away when she was 16, leaving her mother to shoulder the responsibility of the family. They had barely begun to cope with the loss when they received a notice from the bank. They had a home loan of Rs 27 lakh, and the bank threatened eviction if the loan wasn't paid. However, despite everything Prerna devoted all her time to her NEET preparation and emerged victorious by securing 686 marks out of 700 in 2023. 

Father's demise

Prerna Singh is a resident of Mahavir Nagar, Kota, Rajasthan. Her father, who worked as an auto driver, battled cancer and tragically passed away. Prerna was just 16 years old and in class 10 at the time. The family was burdened with the repayment of a loan of Rs 27 lakh. With no one to support, the responsibility the family fell upon Prerna and her mother.

Enduring challenges

Affording a single day’s meal was a tremendous challenge for the family. There were days when they survived on just roti and chutney. However, despite these hardships, Prerna remained steadfast in her pursuit of her goals. She worked diligently in her studies and never wavered from her ambition to pursue medicine. NEET exams are considered quite competitive; in fact, over 23 lakh students have applied for the NEET UG 2024 exam alone. 

Achieving dreams

With sheer hard work and determination, Prerna performed extraordinarily well in NEET UG 2023 exam. She managed to score 686 marks out 720, securing 1033rd rank. This impressive achievement made it easier for her to secure admission in a government medical college. During her preparation, she dedicated 12-13 hours daily to her studies. She also attended coaching classes for better approach and guidance. A family relative covered the expenses related to her coaching classes.
