The instant delivery app Blinkit now offers free dhaniya (coriander leaves) with vegetable orders. A user's mother suggested it.

Blinkit is one of the largest instant delivery services in India. Millions of people use it across the nation to get their daily essentials delivered to them at their doorsteps. One can get all the seasonal vegetables and fruits on the app, but there is one thing missing from it. The complimentary 'dhaniya' you get when you buy vegetables in bulk from a local vegetable vendor.

It is a traditional Indian household thing, where every time you buy vegetables from a local shop, the vendor usually gives you a bunch of coriander leaves for free. However, this aspect was slowly dying due to online marts and delivery services until a user's mother's suggestion changed it.

A Blinkit user named Ankit, posted on X (formerly Twitter) about his mother's shock when she found out you have to pay extra to get dhaniya. He jokingly wrote, "Mom got a mini heart attack because she had to pay for dhaniya on Blinkit. @albinder - mom is suggesting that you should bundle it for free with certain amount of veggies," tagging the co-founder and CEO of Blinkit, Albinder Dhindsa.

It’s live! Everyone please thank Ankit’s mom 💛

Albinder replied to the original post by saying "will do" and he did it! He shared a screenshot of the application now offering 100 grams of coriander leaves as a free gift. It can be unlocked after buying a certain amount of veggies.

He wrote, "It’s live! Everyone please thank Ankit’s mom We will polish the feature in next couple of weeks."

Impressed by the new feature, one user wrote, "By far the one of the most impressive usage of Social Media ( X specifically ) and fast implementation by the company. Betting big time on Zomato & Blinkit!"

"Great you are listening to your customers so promptly. One more request, please introduce jute / cloth bags for carrying against refundable fees. I won't mind paying a small fee to get my blinkit orders always in reusable bags. I feel we are generating a lot of paper waste otherwise and with qcommerce the frequency becomes issue," another user wrote suggesting a more sustainable way of delivering groceries without generating waste.
