After his father's death, Rajesh Rajak shouldered the responsibility alone. According to Rajesh Rajak, his father passed away in 2017, the same year he completed his class 12th. His family was already struggling financially, making it difficult for him to continue his education. But he refused to give up. Instead, he chose to work and study at the same time.
To support his college education, Rajesh took up a job as a teacher in a private school in Hazaribag. His earnings helped cover his graduation expenses. But just as he was trying to find his footing, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, making an already difficult situation even more challenging.
During the lockdown, Rajesh Rajak moved to Ranchi and started working as a delivery boy. Even after a long day of work, Rajesh never stopped studying. He stayed in a lodge where most of the residents were also preparing for competitive exams, and their shared determination kept him motivated and focused on his goal.
As soon as the JPSC notification was released, Rajesh Rajak quit his delivery job and dedicated himself to preparation. He cleared the Prelims in his first attempt but missed the Mains by a small margin. However, this strengthened his resolve, and he received support from his family. He geared up again for the JPSC exam and finally achieved success in his second attempt with a rank of 271.
Rajesh Rajak drew inspiration from a young man in his village who had cleared the JPSC and joined the police service. Witnessing the respect and admiration that came with the uniform sparked a fire in Rajesh. It was at that moment he decided to pursue the same path and thus began his journey toward cracking the JPSC.
His mother, Janki Devi, is a cook in a government school. She expresses her pride in her son, saying she is deeply proud of his achievement. He reached this position without the support of his father, and she believes it is a moment of pride not just for their family, but for the entire village and society.
